Ganiyat Gani-B Alli: Former A Level student talks about her career as an Event and Wedding Coordinator

Ganiyat is an Event and Wedding Coordinator, as well as the Founder and Creative Director of both the Fashion Exposed showcase and the Mr and Miss Nigeria UK Beauty Pageant. Our former A Level student has many strings to her bow. She recently spoke to our Alumni team about the journey her career has taken her on and how her time at Christ the King has helped her on her way.

“One of my fondest and most inspirational memories of colleges was attending the student run fashion show,” she said. “It was something I wanted to be a part of but never had the confidence to do – but seeing my fellow classmates put together such an entertaining showcase really shaped the direction I have gone in with my own career.

“I currently manage on of the biggest cultural pageants in the UK – the Mr and Miss Nigeria UK Pageant.  I also help coordinate events and weddings all across London.

“Christ the King helped me to build my confidence,” said Ganiyat. “I was able to come out of my comfort zone and make some great connections with people that were able to help and support me in my current endeavours. The support was always there, but I do wish I took more time to connect more with the staff who had a wealth of experience to offer.”

After college, Ganiyat went on to university. She then began working as a Customer Service Representative for a major airline, before becoming the Social Media Manager for the SPACNation Foundation, managing all social media accounts for the church, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. She furthered her skills as an Office Manager for an international motor brand, setting her in good stead for her current role as a wedding and event co-ordinator.

Ganiyat now helps to plan and coordinate huge events, as well as taking care of marketing and promotion, social media, and managing a small team.

“I planned, promoted and executed the biggest free business seminar for start-up businesses which generated investment of over £30,000,” she said. “As well as this I have been a presenter at several events, speaking to audiences of 500+ delegates.

“I am also currently studying a Master’s Degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management, “she said. “In a few years’ time I will have established my business further, as well as my personal brand as an event and wedding host.

“I love people and always wish to see the best in everyone.”
