Which ‘Get Involved’ area is right for you?

We’re always delighted when our alumni return to their former college to give something back, and we’ve got plenty of ways for you to do the same.

But which ‘Get Involved’ area should you choose? Of course, we want you to get involved in as many ways as possible, but some people may be more suited to certain areas than others.

Luckily, there is more than one way to get involved with your former college and help inspire the next generation of alumni. So, which area should you choose?

Provide a testimonial

The quickest and easiest way to get involved and inspire our current students, many alumni have filled out our testimonial questionnaire, often before going to get involved in another area.

We want to hear about what you’ve been up to since leaving college and we know that, whatever your story, our students – and fellow alumni – love hearing from someone who was once in their position.

Speak to students

Another popular ‘Get Involved’ area for alumni, returning to college to speak to students is a rewarding, fun experience.

Speaking in front of a group of students won’t be for everyone (even though they don’t bite, promise!) but there are plenty of different ways to do this.

Whether it’s running a workshop, holding a Q&A session or simply delivering a short talk, our students can really benefit from hearing from someone who’s found success in their chosen field. However you choose to speak to our students, we guarantee you’ll have a good time!

Attend an event

Would you like to have a look around your old college, but don’t feel up to speaking to a classroom of students? Come along to one of our events instead!

We’re always running open days, open evenings and other events that could really benefit from alumni involvement. So come along, see your old stomping ground, and help to get potential students interested in attending the College.

Provide work experience

In today’s jobs competitive market, work experience placements are vital for young people. They are a chance to see what the real working world is like, put what they’ve learnt at college into practice and bolster their CV.

If you’re in a management position, or you run your own business, are you able to offer a work shadowing opportunity? It’s an opportunity to shape the next generation, pass on some of your knowledge and experience, and get a committed, motivated new member of staff.
