Sustainability Strategy
At Christ the King Sixth Forms, sustainability is at the heart of our mission to educate and inspire future leaders. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and preparing our students to become responsible stewards of the planet.
Through our comprehensive Sustainability Strategy, we are:

- Educating for Impact
Embedding environmental education across our curriculum and providing opportunities for students to lead green initiatives. - Engaging our Community
Collaborating with local schools, organisations, and alumni to share sustainable practices and build a greener South East London. - Protecting Nature
Enhancing biodiversity through tree planting, wildflower meadows, wildlife habitats, and eco-friendly site management. - Reducing our Carbon Footprint
Pursuing net zero emissions by 2045 through energy audits, investment in renewable technologies, and sustainable building design. - Championing Sustainable Habits
From banning single-use plastic bottles to promoting food waste reduction and climate-conscious travel, we’re taking action every day. - Empowering through Partnerships
Working with leading environmental organisations and skills networks to promote green careers and carbon literacy for staff and students.
We are proud to be recognised with national awards, including the Green Flag Award with Distinction and the SFCA Environmental and Sustainability Award, which celebrate our commitment to meaningful change. Our students also won the prestigious IKEA x Let’s Go Zero Competition, designing an innovative Eco Hub to embed sustainability into college life. This hub now serves as a vibrant space for students, staff, local schools, and the wider community to build green skills and apply sustainability in practice.
Our campus also features a Green Teaching Corridor, which includes heat pump and solar panel workshops, as well as onsite beehives and a fully equipped Greenhouse, offering students hands-on experience with renewable energy and biodiversity in action.
Our hope is to continue inspiring students, staff, families, and our wider community to join us on our sustainability journey and make a lasting positive impact on the environment.
