Trip to the Royal Academy of Arts

This month, our Level 2 and Level 3 UAL Applied General qualification students in Art & Design embarked on an inspiring trip to London. Their journey included visits to two iconic institutions: The Royal Academy of Arts and the National Gallery.

At the Royal Academy of Arts, students immersed themselves in the work of Royal Academician Sir Michael Craig-Martin. Considered a key figure in British art and a highly influential artist and teacher, Craig-Martin’s retrospective exhibition provided a unique opportunity to engage with his innovative concepts.

The trip continued to the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, where students explored the vast permanent collection. They encountered masterpieces from renowned artists across various periods, gaining valuable insights into art history and diverse artistic movements.

Quotes from the students themselves perfectly capture the impact of this enriching experience:

  • “This day was really helpful for my art project.”
  • “Seeing real work displayed in a real gallery helped me understand what impact real work can have.”
  • “Can we go on more trips like this please?”

This impactful trip provided our students with a chance to learn beyond the classroom walls, sparking their creativity and fueling their passion for art. We’re thrilled to see their skills flourish as they draw inspiration from these world-renowned collections.
