Former student secures LSE Scholarship
Adamoh is a former student from CTK who studied A level Business, Mathematics, and BTEC IT. She chose those subjects mainly because she believed they would aid her in the pursuit of a career in the Accounting and Finance industry. Adamoh’s experiences in the past three years have shown her that she made the right choice.
When we spoke to Adamoh, she said;
“During my time at CTK, I had the opportunity to study with many like minded individuals and be in an environment whereby the welfare and progression of the students is of utmost importance. I particularly enjoyed the balance the of freedom and responsibility that came with studying at CTK as It enabled me to discover my self and my potential.
The past three years has been a mix of ups and downs . Navigating the adult life and the working environment has been an experience that has taught me the importance of hard work and resilience. I’ve completed work experience with Minaard Accountants (T/A Minaard consulting limited), an Accounting firm. I have also started studying for my ACCA exams with KAPLAN learning to improve my academic performance and also completed some virtual work experience with Springpod and The BrightNetwork, that looked into the accounting and finance industry. They explored different career paths in the industry and what kind of skills employers are looking for in a graduate. These opportunities enabled me to narrow down the career options I picked out for myself. Hopefully, I’m working towards being a Tax Adviser or more broadly, a Financial Accountant.
It took me two attempts before I was successfully granted a scholarship at LSE to study BSc Accounting and Finance . There are no words to describe the feeling of joy and relief in the first few moments of reading the award letter. This scholarship will enable me to go on and progress my Academic career, I don’t have to worry any future debts as the scholarship is just under £40,000 and I can fully put my focus in achieving the best I can.
The Accounting and Finance industry is very versatile . In the sense that there are so many career paths and options to choose from. I wish to work towards being Tax Adviser and to also complete my ACCA exams to become a certified charted Accountant. In the next five years , I hope to have achieved more than what I have aspired for myself.
One thing I do want everyone to know is that faith and hard work go hand-in-hand . A lot of sleepless nights and countless rejections but the beauty of it all is that I didn’t give up.”
