Christ the King Sixth Forms Launches Sayo Ogundele Scholarship Excellence Award

Christ the King Sixth Forms (CTK) is thrilled to announce the launch of the Sayo Ogundele Scholarship Excellence Award, a new scholarship initiative for 2024 made possible through the generous financial contribution of former student, Sayo Ogundele. Sayo, who graduated from CTK in 2006, has established this scholarship as a testament to his commitment to social mobility and his desire to give back to the community that helped shape his future.

The Sayo Ogundele Scholarship Excellence Award is designed to support aspiring students at CTK, helping them achieve their academic and professional goals. Sayo’s own journey—from CTK to The London School of Economics (LSE), where he earned a Bachelor of Laws degree, to a successful career as a senior corporate lawyer advising some of the world’s leading companies, —demonstrates the transformative power of education. His success story highlights the importance of providing opportunities to talented individuals, regardless of their background.

CTK is proud to award this scholarship to two outstanding students.

The first recipient, Cameron Iyaman, excelled in A Level Mathematics (A*), Biology (A*), and Chemistry (A*) and has secured a place at Cambridge University to study Veterinary Medicine. Cameron expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am so grateful to CTK and Sayo Ogundele for giving me the opportunity to succeed and grow during my next steps at Cambridge. I am excited about what the future holds, and this scholarship will give me a boost at the start of my course.”

The second recipient, Haran Marcelene, is an aspiring film director who studied BTEC Creative Digital Media Production at CTK. Haran will be pursuing Content Media and Film Production at Met Film School. Reflecting on this opportunity, Haran said, “My passion for film has been a huge influence since I was a child. I am delighted to share my love for film with Sayo and get his support and mentorship as I embark on this next chapter in my life.”

Sayo’s passion for social mobility and education has been a driving force behind the establishment of this scholarship.

Reflecting on the scholarship, Sayo Ogundele said, “Education is a powerful tool that can open doors to limitless opportunities. CTK played a crucial role in my development, and I am honored to be able to give back by supporting the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and creators. I hope this scholarship will empower these students to pursue their dreams and make a lasting impact on the world.”
