Christ the King Sixth Forms Celebrate Second Year of the Sayo Ogundele Scholarship for Excellence

Christ the King Sixth Forms are proud to announce the continuation of the Sayo Ogundele Scholarship for Excellence, now in its second year. The scholarship, created and personally funded by CTK alumnus Sayo Ogundele, is awarded to two exceptional students who have demonstrated resilience, determination, and academic excellence in the face of personal challenges.

This year’s two recipients have demonstrated exceptional dedication and ambition in their studies:

  • Lucas Gard, who studied A Levels at CTK, will be continuing his academic journey by studying History at the University of Southampton, pursuing his passion for understanding the past and its influence on the present and future.
  • Kamalrajh, who studied BTEC Business at CTK, and received grades D*D*D, has secured a place at the University of Surrey, where he will study Business, Economics and Data Analytics, combining business insight with analytical expertise to prepare for an impactful career.

Both students have shown an outstanding commitment to their studies and wider college life, despite facing significant adversity. Their strength of character, perseverance, and academic aspirations impressed the selection panel and exemplified the value of the scholarship.

Sayo Ogundele, who studied at Christ the King before going on to build a successful career in law, established the scholarship to give back to the community that supported him. He aims to inspire and uplift the next generation of students through mentorship and financial support.

Mr Ogundele said:

“Supporting young people through this scholarship is something deeply personal to me. I want students to know that no matter where they come from or what obstacles they face, they can achieve great things with the right support and mindset.”

CTK Assistant Principal Tumay Gunduz, who leads on partnerships and skills, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to Sayo for continuing to support our students through this generous scholarship. Kamalrahj and Lucas are truly deserving recipients, and we are proud to celebrate their success. This is a powerful example of the impact of alumni engagement and the importance of building strong partnerships to empower young people.”

The Sayo Ogundele Scholarship for Excellence forms part of a wider programme of student support and enrichment at Christ the King Sixth Forms, aimed at helping every learner reach their full potential, regardless of background.

Before heading off to university, our scholars had the opportunity to meet with Sayo again. The meeting was a chance to reflect on their journeys, share future ambitions, and hear words of encouragement from the alumnus whose generosity helped make it all possible. It was a powerful moment of connection between past and present CTK students – one that captured the spirit of community, aspiration, and giving back.
