Rozaliya Asenova: High flying Travel & Tourism student is on her way to a career in international events management

Rozaliya has big ambitions for her career. She wants to be in charge of running huge international events on an international level. To achieve her goals, she completed a BTEC Level 3 in Travel and Tourism at Christ the King Sixth Form College, and has since begun a BA (Hons) in Events Management.

She spoke to our Alumni Team about her plans for her dream career and how CTK helped her get where she is today.

“My time at college was completely worth it,” she said. “Without the support of my teachers at College I would have never been able to get where I am now. They helped me to prepare for university life, what to expect and how to cope with it. This has helped me grow immensely as a person and has already taken me far in my career.”

Rozaliya had a hugely successful first year at university, despite the challenges she also faced.

“After my first year I was also offered a scholarship for my high achievements to both college and my first year at university,” she said. “Working on group projects with others who were less motivated than myself was a challenge, yet this didn’t bring me. At the end I still achieved everything I was aiming to achieve.”

Her degree has also allowed her to travel, which will be amazing experience when she comes to forge her career in international events management.

“I’ve had the opportunity to go on an Erasmus year abroad, in Finland, where I was studying for 10 months during my second year at university. I also go the chance to travel around all the neighbouring countries and experience their cultures.

“After university I would like to get a job in a global events agency or even open my own eventually. Ideally, my job would require me to travel a lot and organise large scale events abroad, working in a high, managerial position where I manage my own team.

Finally, we asked Rozaliya if she had any advice for other students of CTK.

“Work hard work smart,” she said. “Don’t let others slow you down in achieving your goals. Be wise and listen to what people have to say to you, but then ultimately the decision has to be yours. Don’t be lazy and do your reading too. The knowledge you get from it is what is going to help you get far. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and even poke your nose out, because opportunities don’t always just fall before us. You have to make the effort and search for them.”
