Margaret Zawedde: Former A Level student plans to make big waves in the fashion industry

Margaret Zawedde studied her A Levels at Christ the King Sixth Form College. Now at university, she is working towards her BA (Hons) in Fashion Marketing and looking forward to being a successful and influential force in the fashion industry after graduation.

She told our Alumni team about how CTK prepared her for university life and her big plans for the future.

“I feel as though the independence that CTK gave me in particular helped me to settle well with independent learning,” she said.

However, settling into university wasn’t easy at first for Margaret.

“Due to having social anxiety,” she said, “it has been hard to step out of my comfort zone and make as many friends and memories as I had hoped to, but second year holds a better future.”

Yet her time at the University of Northampton has had many highlights.

“I’ve loved having extensive work experience in first year,” she said. “A particular highlight was working at Clothes Show Live and Bridal Fashion Week, and also just being able to be supported as much as possible by my course leaders.”

So what’s next for Margaret?

“Hopefully I will get a First Honours in my Fashion Marketing degree,” she said. “Then I want to work for a big company lie Google to get lots of experience.

“In five years’ time I hope to be a successful figure in the fashion industry, a large blogger and lifestyle individual and an inspiration to the young.”

Finally, we asked Margaret if she had any advice for her fellow CTK alumni:

“Stay aware of what you want to do” she advised. “It’s an enjoyable experience and a lot of life skills come from it. The world is your oyster and university is only a fraction of that.”
